I always remembered when my mom gave me this beautiful gift in my 9th birthday: "Little women" by Louisa May Alcott. First I read the book of course, and then I saw the movie a few years later, and I felt satisfy and more, I loved the movie as well as the book. I saw the movie last week again, and I cried as the same I did the first time (I feel really embarrassed right now telling you this) but that sensation of be a little women, it came to my mind again...oh I can´t explain...I like very much all those stories with characters like Jo, full of courage, passionate and intelligence of heart and mind. But at the same time you love all the characters, all the sisters have beautiful personalities: Meg, Beth, Amy and of course Jo, and don´t forget the mother, ant May and the nanny. I find Louisa May Alcott´s work a remarkable piece of art and mostly in those times. I think that there´s no little or older women that haven´t read this book, but if you don´t yet, I think you should...
Note: Dear Hila, if you reed this I really would like to know what do you think with your expert vision about this book.

Hi Rina, I'm not sure I'm an "expert" by any means, but I also loved the novel when I was little. I loved Jo the best, I thought she was wonderful and brave and I wish there were more heroines like her.
In a more professional sense, my opinion of the novel is that it's very much like the Victorian domestic and sentimental novels in England, only within an American setting. So it's similar to other nineteenth-century novels that romanticise the nuclear family and the domestic home. But it also has such funny elements to it too and like I said, I thought Jo was the most original and engaging character.
Great post Rina! xx
when I was little I've received a fab pair of peep-toe shoes, like this I had a big crush on them...

Hola Rina!
couture carrie, I´m glad that you liked it.
Hila, thanks so much for your review, i´m very interesting in the way of living of the victorian times. And of course I´m glad that you like Jo´s character too.
Etrapar, I loved those shoes!!!! i want them!

Me encanta tu blog header, qué bonito!
I want to read this book, partly because it is a classic, but mostly because I want to give it to my younger sister.
